(Helping Children in the Star Valley Area)
As a former preschool, elementary, and middle school teacher, I have the knowledge and experience to help your child.
Math Tutoring: Kindergarten through 10th Grade including: number sense, math facts, basic math, algebra, and geometry
Recently I spent two and a half years teaching multisensory math to 3rd- 8th graders across the nation. These children were one to five years behind in math. The teaching approach with math tools, games, and songs really helped these children. Over the years, I have also helped middle school and high school students succeed in their class.
Reading Tutoring- I can teach reading from sounds to fluent reading. Let me know how I can help your child?

Math Tips for Struggling Students

Hands-on activities can engage students as well as help them find understanding of the math concept. A child needs to be able to picture numbers before they can do operations with them. A few great tools for this is dice patterns, the ten frame, and the rekenrek. Pattern blocks and fraction tiles are really useful for understanding fractions. Red and yellow counters can help with integers.
Math Games help break down math anxiety for students. They are distracted by the game and don’t realize they are doing math. Games are a great way to practice and review skills.
